Hi Allen,
It sounds like Kanalog is not working. Is the LED on? Even an unconnected input will not normally read exactly zero.
A common problem that will stop Kanalog from working is to configure any of the pins used on J7 to communicate with Kanalog as outputs. Configuring an axis as Step/Dir on JP7 will also cause Kanalog to fail.
There is a bug in V4.23 where the console ADC commands always report zero. But the Analog Screen should show the correct value. Also if the ADC is mapped as an Axis input then the ADC value will report as the Axis Position.
Regards
TK

Yes, the LED is on.
I have not (to my knowledge :) ) configured anything on JP7. I use JP5 solely for my Step/Dir signals (which is used straight out of the kflop so the small cable from Jp5 to Jp9 has been removed)
I have not mapped any of the ADC inputs. All channels (#0-#7) on Analog I/O screen are reading -2048 = -10.000 volts with or without the LVDT connected. I have tried each input with the same result.

All channels reading -2048 sounds bad. Try cycling power on KFLOP to put it in the default configuration, then look at the Analog Screen. If you have flashed User Memory you should re-flash V4.23 to be sure nothing is being configured.

OK, everything was fine until I started mach which executed my init c program. I have four motors configured, all step/dir. As soon as the program initializes the Analog I/O's read -2048 = -10.000.
Can I not use JP5 as step/dir and use ADC? This is not good if that is the case.

OK, I narrowed it down to the output channel that I had configured for the Z axis. I do not have a physical Z axis at the moment but I have to configure for later use and didnt really bother with checking which channel is was using. Soon I will bring this axis online as an analog axis (Xand Y will stay as Step/Dir). Do you foresee any problems with this?
Thanks,
Allen

Good work. As long as Z is not configured as Step/Dir channel 0-3 there should be no conflict.
Thanks
